Fall riding....
It's Fall and the weather is great for riding (it almost always is in Reno). The best part of riding lately, getting to cruise through the freshly fallen leaves.
So go find some leaves (or leaf piles if you're feeling a bit evil) and crunch away, it might just improve your work day!

It's Monday morning....what are you thinking about?
To be honest I'm not thinking about anything particularly bikey. I did however have someone send me these pictures over the weekend.
It's from a pub (Gestalt Haus) that caters to cyclists over in Fairfax. A pub I'll have to make a point to visit on my next trip.
You just can't not like a pub that has bike racks on the walls and a few opinionated stickers to boot. And for the record....I couldn't care either way on Stava and I like both yoga and whiskey!

Want free bike lights?
If you do head down to the downtown bus station between 4:30 - 6:30 pm tonight. Bright Reno Lights will be installing lights. The only criteria is that you must show up with a bike. This way we know you aren't just grabbing a set to sell on ebay this weekend!
Some days...a commute is just a commute.
Yep, some days....even when the weather is fantastic and it's a totally beautiful morning, the daily commute is just a way to get to work. It's not any more of a "thing" than driving to work when you're used to it. That was how it was today.
And pictures from said commute....

KTVN Does some good reporting....on bicycles.
Don't let the title fool you. The article isn't about bad times for cyclists. Instead it's a good article about riding now that Daylight Savings time has ended and we're often commuting in the dark. Specifically, it's nice to see main stream media reminding drivers to keep an eye out for cyclists on the evening roads!
Here's the article from KTVN Channel 2:
And yes, there really are two car commercials on the page with a story about bicycles....the irony isn't lost on me.

Time change commutes....they have their charm.

Shorter days mean night riding...whether you like it or not.
Yep, I bet you noticed the time change. And that your commute home is flirting with twilight or even outright darkness. So it's time to talk night riding and bike ninjas.
Yep, those guys (and gals) who bike at night and wear dark colors and don't have any lights. Like I said "Bike Ninjas"!
So here's a little teaser on how not to be one....BPAC is giving away free lights through the "Bright Reno Lights" program. We'll be announcing locations for these giveaways in the near future. But I'll be carrying several sets so if you need a set let me know and I'll happily deliver. The only criteria is that you must show me the bike they are going on. We're not trying to help anyone's sales on ebay after all!
Please note...the lights in the giveaway are to make sure you can be seen. You still should have a higher quality light up front to see where you're going if you ride at night on a regular basis. That will be a topic for another post however!
