Watch for those Icy Patches!

Yep, anywhere there's a little bit taller building (north facing) you get a nice icy patch that usually extends across the bike lane.  They are usually dirty ice, visible, and not too slippery....but every once in a while there's a good one that's just pure black ice!  Perfect for practicing a nice 50 foot skid....assuming you stay upright!

The only "chatter" on this blog today will be my teeth.

Nuff said....it was cold on the commute today.  Tingly fingers, tingly toes, ice in the river, and ice in my beard.  I guess up in Bend this necessitates driving  :)

A Nip in the Air!

The nip in the air is real folks.  Time to start thinking about winter riding.

For Reno, it's really not that hard.  Layer up, find a good hat and pair of gloves, maybe include some windstopper in the mix.  With this new look, 90% of your winter riding days are now covered.  If you really love the snow, slush, and mush.....find a set of fenders and maybe some studded tires!  I'm thinking of making the switch early this year.  If I do I'll give you a few pics on the transition.  Until then enjoy the chilly ride....it lets you know you're alive!
