Adventure Cycling Bikepacking Ride on Saturday!

Well, I'm back from vacation and the bikey scene in Reno is rolling!  The tweed ride just wrapped up with an attendance of around 50 people and a there's a bike packing event on Saturday with a prep "packing" event on Friday night.  Both are hosted by Orange Pedal Cycling and the Reno Bike Project so you know they'll be great!  I believe the pre-packing event is Friday night at 7 pm and the ride leaves from the parking lot at 8:30 the next morning.

The trip will take you out to the canyon in the back of Lockwood (Largomarsino Canyon) which has a ton of Indian Rock Artwork and is beautiful to boot.  Aka....Lockwood isn't just a landfill if you were wondering.  So bring a bike....get some advice on how to pack it....and get out for a fall bike packing bonanza!

I think the one way mileage from the trail head is around 14 miles with 1700 feet of climbing.  A great trip with just enough work to make you feel like you earned that beer at the end of the day!

Haute August Bikes Pics.

Another slow roll is in the books.  This time it kicked off over in Sparks at the movie theater and rolled down to the Marina and back.  All in all.....a good time.  So if you haven't made it out to a slow roll with the Reno Bike Project keep an eye out and join us next month!  And pictures....

Our little crew rolling down from the university neighborhood.

Look at those nice wide bike lanes.

A little quality time on the river path.

Meeting up with the group before the ride.

The full crew.

Slow rolling through some fire trucks.

Some of us opted for a cooling ride through the fountains at the end of the ride!

Bike to Work Week Pancake Feed!

Sooooo fulllll of pancakes and bacon and sausage and OJ and coffee!!!

A little rain and cloudy weather definitely didn't dampen spirits down at the Reno Bike Project this morning at the annual pancake feed.  There were a few people with wet butts asking where I got the fenders on my bicycle however!

Despite a few sprinkles...a few of us were even still hanging out on the sidewalk.  The slightly smarter people are inside!

The volunteer cooking crew hard at work.  They made some darn tasty breakfast.

TMBA power house Julie was even sporting a bicycle themed manicure!  I didn't even know this could exist!

So don't forget this isn't the end of bike to work week.  Tomorrow is a slow roll from the Bike Project down to the We Heart Bicycle Art Show at the holland project.  I'll get a proper post up on that later today!

Tomorrow is Friday....Pancake Feed!!!

Ok, I did actually know it was Thursday.  Because if I had thought it was Friday I'd have been eating pancakes, bacon, and hanging out at the Reno Bike Project.  So here's your warning....tomorrow is Friday and all morning long the Reno Bike Project is serving breakfast for bicyclists.  Stop in and say hello!

One for the ladies....and ladies only!

From the Reno Bike Project:

Ladies’ Night Group Ride

Hey Gals,

The one and only Lyndsey Langsdale is out of town this week, so we’re mourning her absence with a fun LADIES ONLY group ride. If you’ve never been to a Ladies’ Night this is a great opportunity for you to meet some of the foxy ladies who regularly attend our fun Tuesday night workshops. It’ll be a nice and social get together, we’ll probably ride for about an hour or less.
Kids are totally welcome! We will be riding on the safer, more quiet roads in downtown Reno.

NBA=NO BOYS ALLOWED :)

A good time this weekend.

Just saw this notice on the Reno Bike Project site:

If you’re suffering from alleycat withdrawals, the boys of Reno Rampage have organized a quick and dirty race on August 20th at the Studio on 4th. Race registration starts at 3:00pm, 5$, all-ages, helmet required!!! If you survive the race, the awards ceremony and after party will be a rockin’ good time at the Studio on 4th. They’re giving away tons of swag like wheel sets, clothes and free tattoos. This will be an awesome race; be ready to throw down. Look out for our upcoming VLOG interview with Rampage.
