I was out of town over the weekend (and through Monday!) for a friends birthday brewery tour, but I returned to the river path this morning. The presents just keep coming as I encountered the city of Reno crew completely ripping out and replacing the deck on the river path bridge!

Unfortunately, they don't sign the detour until you're about 50 yds. from the closure. This leaves you to detour out on to 2nd St. / Glendale Ave. which isn't exactly bike friendly. |

At least the sparks are flying on the rehab! |

Out with the old decking! |

The only thing to do now is hope that the new deck they put down is silky smooth and lasts for a good long time. I'll let you know how it's looking throughout the week.
I'm not familiar with that river trail but it sure looks like a beautiful ride. Where would be a good place to park and then jump on the trail?
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of locations you can access the river path from. If you're in downtown Reno and want to head west the entrance is right by Harrah's automobile museum (Mill St. and Lake). If you're in Sparks the easiest access point is probably Rock Park (Rock Blvd. and Glendale Ave.).
DeleteI'll probably try the downtown spot first and see how it goes. Now for another 50 degree day....
