Keystone Bike Lane Meeting!

Ok, so I attended the Keystone bike lane (restripping) meeting on the 31st.  It was actually pretty fun!  Really, you don't say.....a government meeting was fun!?  Yes, because there were a decent number of people there, and two were very vocal opponents of the conversion.  Meaning there was some pretty good shouting going on for a bit!

First off....it was well signed.  This was at the meeting, but they had those big orange digital construction signs telling you about the meeting in 3 separate locations on Keystone for the week before.

A decent crowd for one of these meetings!

They had very detailed layouts of the striping plan.

The letter on why these types of restriping plans make sense.

So, the most enjoyable part for me was when one of the opponents of the project stated,

"How do you even find out about these meetings?  I only heard at the last minute from a neighbor."

Someone in the crowd responded,

"They've had those gigantic construction billboards up for a week!"

Her response,

"Maybe you can read those if your on a bike (she assumed anyone in favor of this was a cyclist) you can read those, but you can't read those from a moving car!"

Someone in the crowd responded,

"If you can't read those signs from your car you're driving too fast!  How do you see a stop sign if you can't see those signs!?"

Needless to say she became rather quiet at this point.  I couldn't stop chuckling for like 5 minutes after this point in the meeting.

Anyway, that was the meeting.  I have full copies of the lane configuration for the entire street if anyone wants them.
